December 13th
Our documentary is DONE!!! So exciting. It turned out really well. I hope it is an accurate depiction of this wonderful theater. Last thing drop off thank you notes and finish production book. This was a great experience and despite that many times it was stressful and I very strongly dislike cameras, I had fun. Thanks to Jess and Rob who were awesome partners!! And thanks to everyone at the Hangar theater.

November 11th
What to say about our update. We have what we hope is our last filming on tuesday and this weekend we are digging in and make a quote by quote script. We really want to have this done before the interview just so we make sure we have all the quotes we need without narrating to get through the whole piece. This way we know what we are still looking for to connect all of the great interviews we already got. We also last sunday had a great conversation that helped us to find our vision for the piece. I think that it will not only be interesting to here about the new Hangar but also that it is going to be beautiful. The only thing is the title, it needs to be something more descriptive of the theater and the vision we have.

November 1st
Our shoot on Saturday went well. It was a lot to handle, twelve hours of technology is a lot for me. I am worried about all of the shots we got as much as we could with the cameras we had but so much was going on at the same time. Our interviews were stellar. Peter, Bob and Cal were very articulate and gave us exactly what we were looking for and more! They are very passionate men and there viewpoints were very interesting. For the kids program it was fun to be back stage and see the moments of movement. I tried to capture them but as always it was a little dark. I wish I could just have a little shoulder lamp that would give me the perfect amount of light. What we still need to do is an interview with Lisa to fill in the gaps and possible redo Jamie and maybe even Mary Beth's interviews. We also might need some more man off the street interviews but I think we will have to decide what role that plays in the documentary after we have our outline done. I feel like we are in a good place. The next step is going through or film and creating the story and making sure we fill in any gaps ASAP. Overall feeling less nervous three days later. It was a great experience though!!!!

October 21
Not a ton has happened since fall break. We did have two interviews which went really well. It was nice that our two subjects came from different backgrounds at the theater. They both had beautiful closing statements and I think it shows just what it means to have a full year theater to this community. The only issue is lighting. the lighting is really bad and we tried to make our own but it wasn't as much as we needed. We are in the process of getting in contact with the actors of Tits Fisher, I really hope that we will be given more access to movement during rehearsal. I struggle with this because I would be incredibly distracted by a camera but we really need the shots. We also are getting interviews set up and found out about another use of the theater or footage of people going from the outside in. I'm really worried about our budget. We have a lot of footage but we need more an I worry about having the budget to get all of the footage we need. Hopefully we will be able to condense these shoots.

October 3
We got some bad news. We can't record the performance this coming weekend- that puts all of our eggs in one basket; the last show Tits fisher. We are going to go to My brother Martin, the page to stage program, this weekend. We are also planing on going to the show and doing outside shots of the theater and MOS interviews. We are waiting now to do interviews which is necessary to moving forward. Otherwise not a lot else happening in our project. Just want to keep moving forward so we can get our taping done from the end of the month.

September 26th
I'm still exhausted from yesterday. We spent a long day filming at the Hangar. We found out we need more recording cards because we didn't have enough for both cameras. We got a lot of footage of the theater, it was cloudy so we took advantage and took shots outside. I am worried about the quality of the footage. Inside the theater is dark and the lighting they had for audience entering was really low so it could look cool or it could not work at all. We'll have to see. It mostly was really good for figuring out how to do our next two shoots. We have an idea of what we need still. I think next time I want to create a connection with the performers so I feel more comfortable during the dress rehearsal asking for more access. I'm very conscious of how it feels to do dress rehearsal with extra people there and I was worried about distracting them. Over all great experience and great start!

September 24th
After talking to Lisa our documentary has become more focused on what exactly our story is and how to get it. I think before we had a great idea and theme but it needed to be hashed out a little more. The history portion is going to be shortened which I think is a great choice, it'll still be there to set up the story but not so prevalent. We are starting to find the story, it is not only what the theater means not for the community but for theater on a whole. I'm a little apprehensive about the work in front of us. Because of our style shoots seem like they are going to be high pressure. I'm a little worried, because they are one time, that the shoot could get messed up and we wouldn't have another opportunity but we will just triple check anything. I'm also really excited about interviewing people because they seem to love what they do and that always makes for a good interview. I think I'll feel better when we get some things on camera and it is no longer a theoretical idea but we are actually creating our piece. I'm a little overwhelmed with how much we have to do but I think it'll turn out really well.
